Clinical Psychologist (she/her)
As a Clinical Psychologist, my job is to support people’s well-being by applying psychological theory and research. I love my job as a psychologist as I can use both my head and my heart in my work.
I am really passionate about working with young people who have experienced trauma, and a lot of my experience before my role with Hummingbird has been working with young people who have been through traumatic experiences and who are also experiencing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Most of my roles have been in the NHS, and in my previous role I led a small team of psychologists supporting children and young people who recently experienced rape and sexual assault.
I am trained in specialist therapies such as TF-CBT, NET and EMDR which can help with the specific problems PTSD can cause. Alongside this, I work with adults who are supporting young people to help understand their psychological needs and try to make changes that impact their day to day life. I have experience writing medico-legal reports as a psychologist and delivering training to different agencies and organisations to help increase understanding of the impact of trauma on young people .
I have been working with young people seeking asylum for the last 8 years, with the hope of making effective care accessible for young people who are marginalized, isolated and who have different understanding of stress and mental health.
And that pretty much summarises why I do what I do!
